Dr. William Holland is an experienced, board certified orthopedic surgeon based in San Diego, with fellowship training in sports medicine, knee surgery, and shoulder surgery.
Dr. Holland was raised in Tacoma, Washington, and attended the University of Nevada, Reno for his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Holland served in the United States Navy for 14 years. His distinguished career in the Navy included three years as a Naval Flight Surgeon stationed with the 3rd Marine Air Wing out of El Toro, CA, as well as numerous overseas military exercises and deployments.
Dr. Holland completed his orthopedic residency at Balboa Naval Medical Center, in San Diego. He then spent two years as the Department Chairman for Orthopaedics at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Guam.
Dr. Holland has completed a yearlong, world renowned Fellowship in sports medicine, knee, and shoulder surgery where he focused on working with professional and Olympic athletes. He became the Department Head for the Sports Medicine and Knee surgery service, teaching orthopedic residents the latest techniques. Dr. Holland earned an honorable discharge from the United States Navy at the rank of Commander.
Dr. Holland is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the California Medical Society as well as the San Diego County Medical Society, and has performed research in the fields of sports medicine and pediatric orthopaedics, and presented papers at a number of national and international meetings. He treats all general adult and children’s orthopaedic conditions.
Dr. Holland has been married to his lovely wife Irene for more than 25 years, and has four wonderful children.
